Skaith achieves league and high series double

JIM SKAITH left it until the final rotation of the YAC League to secure the title. He maintained a game average of 174 and also took high series for the season with 634 as he finished ahead of Danielle Le Couvey in second and third- placed Steve Cutler.

The high individual game of the season went to Stuart Lowery with 239, just ahead of Skaith’s 238.

Highest-girl honours went to Chloe Gunton-Bunn, with an average of 151, a 225 best game and a high series of 534.

With the next rotation due to start in September, the YACs (18 to 25-year-olds) anticipate an exciting season as several of the Youth Bowling Club are due to join them, having attained an acceptable standard in their own leagues.

This will give the younger bowlers an opportunity to gain more valuable competitive action in addition to playing their own YBC leagues where they remain until the age of 18.

Guernsey will again be sending a team to the YAC’s Triple Crown being held in Wales and they will be facing tough opposition from the other home countries.

In the current YBC Leagues, Daniel Smith holds a four-point lead in Division One ahead of Blake Osborne with Damian Wrigley in third.

Smith rolled an excellent 232 game, 626 series, Osborne produced 215-578 and Matt Southwell scored 213-594.

Leading girl was Lauren Hurford with 184-499 to earn fourth place in the table and there were also good scores from Kayleigh Marquis, Natalie Wrigley and Stephanie Hale.

Division Two is led by John Gauvain with Simon de Mouilpied second and Alex Healy third.

Grant Kelling claimed top game with 182 while Healy had top series. Stephanie Lowe led the girls with 148-365, closely followed by Marie-Claire Savident (363) and Louise Savident (339).
