NORTH BEACH will be transformed on 9 May into an extreme sports playground for LibJam. The Guernsey Press can reveal what the car park will look like for the three-day extravaganza, which starts on 7 May, with the main event on Liberation Day itself.
Guernsey Extreme Sports Association member Jon Bisson said the dream was becoming a reality.
‘With the 3D images, you can really understand the scale of it. Seeing it come to life is really quite something.
‘North Beach is quite an area to fill.
‘One of the things the area needed was a bit of height and we’ve got that. We couldn’t let it look flat.’
In addition to what is visible in the images, Mr Bisson said there would be a few more vehicles in the car show and a number of promotional stands, stalls and food outlets.
The weekend of 5 and 6 May will be set aside as building days as all the different courses, jumps and tracks, which are being built in the island at the moment, are brought together in one place for the first time.
‘We’ll open for business from 10am on Monday ‘7 May’ and that’s when the first main tryouts will be held for the kids who aren’t too sure if they will be quite good enough for the main competition.’
Mr Bisson said the creation of LibJam was putting to use some of the best young talent in Guernsey.
‘I’m hoping that the guys who have gone out and got the sponsorship, built the courses and made it happen will continue putting on events like this afterwards.
‘It’s about taking the younger athletes’ dreams and helping to make them a reality.’
