Ponies rescued

ANIMAL Aid has prevented two ponies being shot. Founder Sue Vidamour received a call from Redwings Horse Sanctuary asking if the charity could help rescue them from Jersey.

A woman there, who has since died, originally saved them from slaughter as a mare with foal.

‘These ponies, mother and daughter, have not been handled very much and nobody wanted them and they were to be shot last week,’ said Mrs Vidamour.

‘But Animal Aid has collected them and found them a place to go where they can stay together, because the bond between them is very strong.’

The mother is 12 and her daughter six.

Animal Aid is appealing to islanders to help fund the ponies’ trip to the UK and their welfare, which will cost about £500.

After just sending a Dobermann dog to Dobi Rescue and a bull terrier to Bull Breed Rescue, the charity now finds itself with the two ponies to take to a sanctuary in Wales.
