CRAIG DOREY has the chance to be a state champion. The young Guernseyman, who represented the island at last year’s world indoor under-25s, said he was getting nervous before the weekend’s showdown match against Wiseman Park Wollongong City at Warilla bowls in New South Wales.
‘We are the underdogs as they have yet to lose a game this season.
‘But the winners will win the grade-two flag, which Shellharbour [Dorey’s club] have never done and they would then play for the state title at Tarrant Point in Sydney.’
The Vale Rec man added: ‘This is one of the biggest games I will play.
‘News crews, state players and all the other teams that have played in our zone [Illawarra 16] will be watching.
‘I was nervous in the first final last Saturday, but we have had some encouraging words from my coach, Brett Fernhead, and have some decent practice sessions set before this tough game.’
