TWO award-winning hair stylists open a new salon in St Martin’s tomorrow. Envy Hair Studio is co-owned by Vidal Sassoon-trained Davina Le Page, 26, and Alexa Cummins, 24.
They aim to build upon the knowledge and experience they gained while working in Guernsey and London.
Miss Le Page said the opportunity to set up their own business in Grande Rue was too good to miss.
‘We are both at a point in our careers when we either carried on working for somebody or we did something for ourselves.’
The pair believe Envy will offer a hairdressing experience that one would expect to find in a top London salon, but with a friendly Guernsey welcome.
The interior of the salon, which was formerly Rainbow, has been transformed in the past four weeks since the pair, who previously worked for Andre Quintal Hairdressing, took over on 1 October.
Mrs Cummins said the studio had been designed to inspire creativity without intimidating clients.
‘We wanted to create a salon that was approachable for as many people as possible.
‘Decorating the interior from afresh gave us the opportunity to really inject the salon with our personalities and tastes.’
Miss Le Page said she believed its location would be an advantage.
‘We want to establish a good salon, one that people would class as of Town standard, but out of Town.
‘The location also means that we can price our services more competitively.’
The salon will be open from Tuesday to Saturday and will offer late appointments for the convenience of Town workers.
‘At the moment there is just the two of us, but we would like to see the team grow over time.
‘And obviously if it worked really well, we would look to open another salon.’
