Allez fires in second 11-darter in a year

ONE of Guernsey’s top darts players has recorded an impressive 11-dart finish on his home board at the KGV in a league match. After hitting 100, followed by two maximum 180s, Jason Allez had 41 left while playing for his team, Flying Jacks, against BSP’s John Chandler in the Guernsey Triples League.

‘I went for one and double top but hit treble one and checked out with double 19,’ he said.

‘It was a good achievement to do it so early in the season. It means a lot - you can only get two darts better,’ said Allez.

‘It’s the second one I have done in a year and only the second one I have ever done in the leagues. I was well chuffed because I had a 17-dart leg and 19-dart leg afterwards.

‘A few weeks ago I miscounted for a 10-darter,’ he admitted.

He had hit 180, 140, treble 20 and instead of going for 25, went for treble 19.

Allez, 28, who works for Condor Logistics, has been playing superbly of late.

‘I have started coming into form and have overcome some bad form with a lot of practice. It’s all coming good now and I’m playing consistently,’ he said.

His dream would be to hit a nine-darter in a competitive match.

Allez believes a lot of Guernsey’s top players are capable of an 11-darter, which he describes as special.

He is also proud to have last season beaten a 23-year league record for averages that was held by Colin Bourgaize.

‘I’m hoping to equal or better my record of 106 average,’ he said.

‘It’s one of my biggest achievements beating that record.’

He is also aiming to cement his place in the Guernsey team and to win the Channel Islands knockout this season.

‘The way I have been playing, I have got a good chance - it’s just about keeping form and hitting those doubles,’ he said.

His favourite high checkout is 130 but he has already achieved ones of 156, 154, 138 and 116 this season as well as many ton-plus finishes.
