Le Prevost injury a blow to North

North 1, Rangers 0

NORTH put their Bels misery behind them last night with a win over Rangers but look set to lose Alex Le Prevost for an extended period. He picked up a possible cruciate knee injury during the match.

The midfielder was taken by ambulance from Northfield to hospital after he had left the pitch during the second half when his team were a goal to the good.

The score remained the same until the final whistle as the champions returned to the top of the table.

They lost to rivals Bels last Friday evening when Gavin Le Page collected a knee injury as well.

‘I think it could be a rest-of-the-season job,’ said North coach Mick Le Prevost about his son’s injury.

‘He’s in a lot of pain. Obviously it’s a big loss and with Gavin out as well I’m going to have to bring in the kids.

‘We played well in patches tonight and I thought we deserved to win. They didn’t have too many chances and we had a few missed chances, but at the end of the day it’s nice to hang on like that.

‘Friday was disappointing but that’s gone now. We came out tonight and got three points and that’s the main thing.’

The home side’s single goal came courtesy of the hottest property in the league right now, Craig Young, with a close range header just before half time.

North had a few more chances in the second half but they went begging.

Rangers kept working hard throughout the whole game although they lost their keeper Adam Gontier when he received a knock to his jaw after the break.

They came close to scoring themselves right at the death when their best player, Jon Veron, rattled the upright with stinging shot.

Rangers’ boss Mac Gallienne was happy with his team’s efforts.

‘It was a good game and I’m very pleased with the boys,’ he said. ‘North will probably say they deserved to win, but I thought that we deserved a draw.’
