JOAN BICHARD will have an extra month as lady captain at the Royal Guernsey Golf Club following a change of procedure. It had been normal practice for the incoming captain to take up office at the November annual meeting, but to tie-in with the men’s changeover it will now happen on 1 January.
‘I think this is a fantastic step forward and both the president [Geoff Goddard] and captain [Patrickl McKeary], are delighted with the move said Bichard, who added the highlight of her year in the role was Captain’s Day.
‘Sarah Day and Cathy Tracey came to the presentation dinner and spoke about their Atlantic row. We made a lot of money for the Guernsey Society for Cancer Relief, my chosen charity for the year and one of the charities the rowers chose for the funds raised from the sale of their boat and their book Mission Atlantic.’ Captain in 2008 will be Jean Whalley.
