YOUNGSTERS on a business scheme have found friendship as well as learning entrepreneurship. Young Enterprise group Strike has been promoting and selling its products all over the island.
Ladies’ College student Louise Le Pelley said she wanted to show that there were lots of young people with an interest in not only running a business, but also in keeping busy.
‘We get on really well as a team and it has been a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other students from around the island,’ said the 17-year-old.
‘It is not only an opportunity to gain knowledge in running a business, but also to gain friends.’
Louise said she had learned many new skills since joining the initiative.
Brainstorming sessions are in progress for products for Valentine’s Day and Easter.
She said the group preferred to craft everything by hand, giving them the chance to make the most of their combined talents.
Baskets and hampers are just two of the ideas currently on the table.
‘I think that it’s a great scheme because you learn a bit about how businesses operate,’ she said.
‘Our lives are entangled with so many businesses on a day-to-day basis, whether it be going to the hairdresser, or even going to school.
‘It is also helpful for those who want to set up or work in their own business and it covers many different aspects for all kinds of people,’ she said.
‘For example, I am more into creativity and writing and so I enjoy marketing, whereas the financial aspects are perfect for organised people who enjoy maths.’
She said she would recommend Young Enterprise to anybody.
‘Everyone is welcomed and accepted.’
