THREE women have been indecently assaulted in St Peter Port in just five weeks. There have been no arrests.
In the latest incident a woman was attacked as she walked along the Bouet with her eight-year-old daughter.
The 40-year-old was grabbed from behind by a young man outside the underground car park for Roseville Flats.
Her daughter was unharmed, but both were left distressed.
Police said there was no evidence linking this attack to the others.
‘The first two were in relation to someone cycling past, but the most recent incident saw the lady grabbed from behind,’ said Detective Sergeant Kieran McGrath. ‘We are investigating all of them.
‘We recommend people take normal, sensible, precautions while walking at night.’
The attacker is believed to have been wearing dark clothing and ran off towards Rouge Rue.
Police would like to speak to anyone in the area at about 8.20pm on Monday who might have seen anything unusual, especially a man running.
They would particularly like to speak to a young man seen sitting on a moped in the car park shortly after the assault.
Roseville residents were left horrified by the incident on their doorstep.
Some thought that young people who sometimes hung out in the car park might have seen something.
Marilyn Simmons has lived at Roseville for about 18 months.
‘I come out at night to smoke, but now this has happened I’ll think twice.’
The previous assaults took place on 18 December in the Les Canichers area and on 17 January in Doyle Road.
In both the earlier cases the women were assaulted by a male cyclist wearing a hoodie.
