Loganair signs up with Flybe as BA deal ends

FLYBE has signed a landmark franchise agreement that will see Scottish regional airline Loganair take to the skies in Flybe colours from 26 October.

Loganair’s current agreement operating as a British Airways franchisee ends on 25 October.

It means that 3.2 million extra seats with Flybe will go on sale from June.

The agreement with Loganair - the first of its kind for a low cost carrier - follows last year’s acquisition of BA Connect.

Flybe chairman and chief executive officer Jim French said it was further evidence of the airline’s commitment to building a significant presence in the Scottish market and to expanding its route network there.

‘It is an exciting development in the evolution of the low cost model and one which Flybe sees as a valid strategic option for the future,’ he said.

Loganair chairman Scott Grier said it was an exciting time and a significant step for the company.

The move to become a franchise partner with Flybe removed speculation about the future of his airline.
