ANDY PRIAULX has had his first shunt of 2008.
Thankfully, it came in the less precious and hidden surroundings of a BMW PGA Golf Champion-ship preview day at Goodwood and it happened in a golf kart, as opposed to the opening race of the World Touring Car Championship season. Aboard karts called ‘Woodys’, the Guernseyman went head on with golf star Colin Montgomerie and nobody was hurt.
So keen were the pair not to incur any time penalties, they forgot to avoid each other.
Montgomerie was also taken by Priaulx on an exhilarating passenger ride around the Goodwood circuit, but Monty got his own back by winning the golf competition.
‘It was fantastic to see everyone having fun and getting into the spirit of efficient dynamics,’ said Priaulx. ‘Golf is a different pace from racing but every bit as skilful,’ he added.
‘Meeting Colin was a great day and as eight-times winner of the Order of Merit, he could definitely improve my game.’
