Jordan Reynalds, centre, runs out for Saturday’s game at Foote’s Lane.
JORDAN REYNALDS is set to miss the rest of the season.
Guernsey’s influential Australian back was injured during Saturday’s 51-5 win over Old Wimbledonians at Foote’s Lane and the following day underwent an operation to correct a broken collarbone and damaged AC [acromioclavicular] joint.
‘It is looking like two or three months out and, unfortunately, that means the remainder of the season,’ said captain Andy Bailey.
‘We are devastated for him.
‘Obviously he was having a great game on Saturday, but he has also been one of our key players throughout the season and that has been particularly evident in the games he has missed.’
Reynalds was injured in the 36th minute of the victory having taken a hit straight after offloading a terrific pass in the build-up to Guernsey’s fourth try.
‘It was probably one of our tries of the season - really well orchestrated,’ Bailey said.
‘Jordan has pulled the strings for us this season. He has got pace and great hands, which gives us so many options.
‘With him at inside centre and Blair [Campbell] at fly half it was looking a really good combination for us, but injuries such as this are one of the things that can happen in rugby.
‘We will try and react as best we can. We do have options, but it is hard to replace a player of Jordan’s calibre.’
Bailey hopes that Reynalds will still be heavily involved with the first team in a coaching capacity until he is fit to play again.
