Watson recovers for Euro rivals

HEATHER WATSON has got over a stomach strain to help Great Britain in the finals of the under-16 girls Tennis Europe Winter Cup this weekend in Ronchin, France.

The 15-year-old Guernsey tennis star had picked up the injury during a qualifying round for the competition in Jurmala, Latvia a couple of weeks ago.

Since the qualifiers which saw Great Britain get the better of Sweden and Latvia but lose out to top seeds Russia, Watson has been recuperating and training with the team at the national tennis centre in Roehampton.

Great Britain are now in the last eight with Russia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Italy, Hungary and France.

Tara Moore and Nicola George  make up the rest of the team.
