They are looking to benefit from China’s economic development through the provision of financial products such as banking, fiduciary services, investment funds and insurance.

The Guernsey delegation, led by Chief Minister Mike Torode, will be in Shanghai until Friday 7 March to speak to local officials and business leaders about the island and the opportunities on offer to Chinese institutions and people.

First and foremost, they should learn how to speak Chinese and provide equal job opportunities to the Chinese in Guernsey if the Guernsey government and business leaders are really keen to looking for opportunities and benefit from China’s economic development. World has changed. Lots of Chinese do speak English yet how many English speak Chinese?

Excellent news.We should all benefit from trade with China. If our financial industry obtains new business it will help to keep our jobs and that has to be good news. We must however look after our pensioners who are suffering from steeply rising costs with no compensatory rise in income.

Yes, it’s a good idea, but what took so long?
The timing is curios in view of the forthcoming election.
