Bailey happy to buck trend

ANDY BAILEY was both relieved and delighted to come out of a see-saw away battle with the narrowest of wins.

Guernsey had lost on their previous four trips to England, the most recent two by the odd point, but they bucked that trend with a remarkable 20-19 victory at Andover. Trailing going into the final 10 minutes, captain Bailey scored what proved to be the decisive try before the green-and-whites had to repel their hosts at the death while a man in arrears as the other try scorers, James Regnard and Dave Hatcher, were in the sin bin.

‘Considering that we were without Jordan Reynalds, Layton Batiste, Jim Elliott and Simon Sharrott because of injury and unavailability, the squad stood up incredibly well,’ said Bailey.
