North 5, Sylvans 2
NORTH last night took a big step towards Wheway Cup qualification.
The chocolate-and-blues overcame fellow top-three hopefuls Sylvans thanks to a five-goal first-half performance at Northfield.
Having come close to finding top gear near the end of the opening 45 minutes, the hosts were then stuck in neutral after the break, allowing their opponents a sniff of an opportunity and there were a few nervous moments for the home side as the westerners pulled a couple back. The comeback of all comebacks was never a realistic prospect, though.
