A CHRISTMAS savings club agent who pocketed almost £2,500 of her friends’ money faces prison. In the Magistrate’s Court, Susan Brehaut, 51, a Park Retail agent of 23 years, was found guilty of three counts of theft during 2006.
It heard that three friends gave her weekly payments towards Christmas shopping vouchers, but received nothing in return. She said she had paid the money in but had thrown away the only evidence – the paying-in book.
Barclays Bank, St Peter Port and the Post Office at Safeway – where she said she had paid the money in – had no record of the payments.
Brehaut, of Happy Landings Public House, Le Bourg, Forest, could give no explanation in court as to where the money was. In interview, she blamed banking errors.
