AURIGNY was hailed as the people’s airline at its 40th anniversary celebrations yesterday.

The States-owned airline is one of the longest serving in the world and was praised by dignitaries and politicians for maintaining a vital link between the islands and the UK.

‘It’s benefited from States subsidies, which have been of enormous value to them and to the islands as a whole – it means the taxpayer is almost like a shareholder,’ said States of Alderney President Sir Norman Browse.

You may have served the Island well for the 40yrs you have been in operation But you have the noisest aircraft flying and must be above the acceptable decimal limit.
In Torteval, the Aurigny flights taking off to the west for Jersey take three minutes to pass from take off to out of hearing during which time conversation and listening to the garden radio is impossible.
So, modernise and get some up to date aircraft and reduce the noise levels.

    Geoff,
I fully agree with you,the noise from these aircraft is only surpassed by the Russian Anotov. And WHY do aircraft taking off over the West Coast turn and flyback over the Island????
