Shanghai team gets the warmest of welcomes

A team led by Chief Minister Mike Torode has met the vice-mayor of the Shanghai Municipal Government during a visit to promote Guernsey’s financial services expertise.

Tu Guangshao greeted the delegation, which included States chief executive Mike Brown and GuernseyFinance chief executive Peter Niven.

‘The welcome we received from the vice-mayor was exceptionally warm,’ said Mr Niven. ‘He was extremely well briefed on Guernsey and its position as an international finance centre. He praised the efforts of government and the regulatory authorities for ensuring the island stands shoulder to shoulder with many much larger jurisdictions.’
