DALE GARLAND ended a punctuated indoor season with a superb run in Valencia to help get Great Britain into the final of the 4 x 400 metres relay at the world championships.
And although GB were to struggle home in fifth place in the final, Garland flew back from Spain encouraged with his form and looking ahead to a big outdoor season. The Guernseyman ran the fastest split of the GB quartet as they finished in third place and qualified as fastest losers for the final.
All four ran strongly to clock a new season’s best of 3-08.21. Garland was timed at 46.6, a remarkable effort given his injury problems of the past two months and the nature of the Spanish indoor track.
