MEMBERS of the people’s independent panel on waste disposal met for the first time on Friday.

At the inaugural meeting the group emphasised the need for the forum to learn about all the issues facing the island as quickly as possible in order to make speedy recommendations.

The panel has been created by the Public Services Department to reassure islanders that public opinion will be taken into consideration when it makes its recommendation on the type of plant used to deal with the island’s waste.
