Personal data at risk

A SERIOUS flaw in the States internet system has put some islanders’ personal data at risk, the Guernsey Press can reveal.

Care records of Maison Maritaine residents were among the information left exposed by a simple fault in all gov.gg sites discovered by former local resident and website developer Marcus Cicero.

He claims to have warned the States four years ago that a vulnerability in its system existed, but nothing was done to correct it. Anyone with basic computer knowledge, he said, could easily have accessed personal information of potentially thousands of people, as well as seized control of all gov.gg sites, including the airport and Met Office pages.

Where is the rest of this very important story?

Why does the management of the Guernsey Press insist on carrying out this silly charade of just publishing the first few paragraphs?

All other major papers provide the full stories on line. Come on Guernsey Press and do the same.
