    What are the election issues?

For me, a key issue in this election is how can Guernsey reconcile the “Zero-Ten” Tax strategy whilst continuing to deliver top quality public services in, for example, health and education and whilst taking action to alleviate the plight of those living in “relative poverty”.

The danger is, in my view, that a series of cuts in a tight public spending round in future may end up really adversely affecting the quality of life for many lower and middle income people. I don’t get the impression that many of the current States deputies have much of a clue when it comes to working out how the right balance can be struck between economic efficiency & social justice in this island.
