If only youngsters knew all that there was to do

THERE is plenty for young people to do in the island – if only they realised. The problem is, according to the training manager and volunteer co-ordinator for the Youth Service, that they might not know about all that is on offer.

‘There are plenty of activities for young people – I am convinced of that,’ said Eric Grimsley. ‘But we may have a problem with them not knowing what’s available on any given night.’ He said a website ‘specific to letting people know what is available’ could be the answer.

‘But it takes time for anything like that to happen.’  Mr Grimsley ran a workshop on How to Promote Your Youth Club at the recent Youth Workers’ Conference and said using the media was key. ‘We looked at how to get your message across,’ he said.
