Charles Pinsard closes down Grouville’s David Syvret. (0554017)
St Martin’s 1, Grouville 3
JERSEY side Grouville have their eyes set on the first inter-insular trophy in their history next month.
After overcoming a heavily depleted St Martin’s side 3-1 at icy cold Blanche Pierre Lane on Saturday they can rest assured it will not be so easy when they meet North in the Jeremie Cup Final in April.
With strong gusting winds at their backs in the first half St Martin’s failed to make the conditions count in their favour. They appealed in vain for an early penalty when the ball struck the excellent central defender Craig Northedge’s body. But they did not have to wait long to break the deadlock.
