Slippery slope

COLD and wet. That is the best way to describe yesterday’s first meeting of the Guernsey Motor Cycle and Car Club 2008 Le Val des Terres hill climb season.

With Easter early this year, the event took place in conditions not normally associated with hill climbs but more than 90 drivers and a healthy crowd braved the elements.

After an early afternoon downpour, the road was slippery to say the least, and it was a common sight to see tyres spin wildly on the start line. A number of competitors pulled out of going up the hill after the rain.
