THE CEO and chairman of the Bharti Group last night pledged to protect the natural beauty of the island.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, ranked the 64th richest man in the world by Forbes, promised Guernsey Airtel would be responsible regarding the environment and work closely with the community.

The island’s third telecoms operator went live today – six months late, having missed two previous Office of Utility Regulation deadlines. Mr Mittal blamed licence challenges from Wave Telecom and Cable & Wireless for the delay.
