Coastal defences may cost millions

05486551.jpgREPAIRING the sea wall at Rocque Poisson is going to cost so much that Environment expects to have to take a report to the States to get the money.

Engineers have been assessing the damage to the coastline after the recent storms but the full cost of repairs is not yet known.

‘It’s going to be in the hundreds of thousands of pounds – whether it will be in the millions we don’t know until we get the engineers’ report,’ said an Environment Department spokesman. There is a lot of damage all around the coast and it’s going to be costly.’
