GUERNSEY is losing out by not investing in conference facilities, according to audio-visual specialist Joy’s Production Services. Businesses are not holding events in the island because of a lack of suitable venues, said senior staff member Steve Plevin.

‘Travel to Guernsey was always difficult, but when Heathrow went that was a blow. There has been huge investment in conference facilities in big cities, so while the island seems very glamorous, the facilities are far from adequate.’

The decline led founder Peter Joy to look further afield for business. This has led to it becoming a world leader in widescreen graphics.
