ENVIRONMENT admitted yesterday that it had got it wrong over traffic plans for Les Nicolles schools.
After an emergency board meeting it has decided to create a pedestrian safety zone around the schools, something it agreed to in principle on 11 March when it decided on its much-criticised wait-and-see approach.
So as well as an improved bus service, traffic signals and pedestrian crossings as previously announced, other measures such as a reduced speed limit will be introduced. ‘The board believes that the package of measures will give greater protection to students, something that was clearly not the case with the previous proposals,’ said a spokesman.
