DAY four of the Laser Radial Youth World Championships was the best and worst of days for Sophie Platts.
With the breeze more to her liking – race one was in a strong NE breeze of 18 knots – and after a mile-long beat, she rounded the first mark in the top 10.
Still struggling to match the leaders downwind, she slipped places, but managed her best result to date to finish 16th.
At the start of the second race, Platts tangled with another competitor and was forced to take penalty turns – she was then caught on the wrong side of a 15-degree shift and ended the race 31st.
Overall, Platts is currently placed 20th.
The other British girls positions are – Chloe Martin, 7th, Melissa Addy, 9th, Hannah Diamond, 10th Grace Twedell, 27th.
The British youth boys positions are – Martin Evans, 2nd, James Spencer, 7th and Jack Cornthwaite, 22nd.
