Matt is through to last eight

MATT JENNINGS is through to the quarter-finals of the National Senior ABA Championships.

The Guernseyman (pictured) has received another bye to be guaranteed a bout in Sheffield on Friday 25 April.

If he gets through that, he will be in action again the following day, looking to secure his passage to the finals at York Hall in Bethnal Green on 9 May. ‘It all depends on his opponents, but I think he will get through to the finals in London. He is also pretty confident,’ said Jennings’s coach Graham Guilbert.

‘We have to play it by ear as to who he gets in the quarter-final.

‘You would hope it would be someone he is able to put away quickly if he is to box the next day as well. If he gets a hard opponent, it could go the distance and take a lot out of him.’
