PRESSURE from candidates has led to further changes to the Vale’s hustings process.
The parish had announced a new format, but those running were unhappy with how long they would have to have made themselves available to meet voters before the customary meeting and the length of their opening speeches.
Electors will now be able to meet candidates to ask questions individually between 10am and 2pm in the douzaine room on 17 April.
The customary meeting then starts at 7.30pm at the same venue, but opening speeches will be kept to less than two minutes.
Voters will be able to submit written questions in advance and a selection will be asked after the candidates have addressed the meeting.
* The first hustings take place tonight. Candidates in St Sampson’s will face the electorate at St Sampson’s Secondary School at 7.30pm. In the west, the first of two takes place at La Houguette School at the same time.
