AARON BAILEY clocked the fastest time of the day in the first five-mile time trial of the season.
Nineteen riders met at Perelle for the Guernsey Velo Club event and although conditions were windy and hardly ideal, the sun was shining and for once there were no waves or rocks to contend with.
Bailey, pictured, finished in 11min. 22sec. with Stuart Le Tissier second, closely followed by Matt Osborn, Mike Dean, under-16 rider Callum Hill-Smith, Leon Ogier, first female Ann Bowditch and first veteran Graham Le Maitre.
Rob Smart came in 15th place on his mountain bike showing that any kind can be used and is welcome in the time trials.
The next road event will be a road race on Sunday starting at La Houguette School and following three laps of the Vazon circuit.
For those who prefer time trials, there will be a 25-mile one the following week, meeting at Cobo.
