Alderney gets a preview of new commercial quay

01081751.jpgESSENTIAL redevelopment of Alderney’s commercial quay could disrupt the harbour for more than a year.

About 100 islanders visited Alderney’s ferry passenger terminal yesterday to view plans for the work, which is set to start on 12 May and cost £9.5m.

States engineer Julie Turner spent the day at the exhibition with representatives from marine engineers Beckett Ranking, which designed the new quay, Geomarine, which will build it, and States member Bill Walden. Ms Turner said work on the quay could be completed within a year.
