KIERAN MAHON’S hopes of a professional career with Northampton Town have sunk.
A management change at the League One club has cost the Junior Murati star, who had been given a verbal offer of a year’s scholarship with the Cobblers. But the resignation of the club’s youth academy manager, who had made the offer, has seen Mahon told by the new academy boss he will not be kept on after all.
Mahon received the news when he was travelling back to the UK after having played in the Junior Muratti. ‘Kieran has taken the news well and fully understands that these things happen in football,’ said his parents.
‘He remains focused and positive and is now ready to move on. He gained some valuable experiemce while on loan with the Cobblers which should put him in good stead for his next trial,’ they added.
The North junior, who has been at the footballcvacademy.com, has further trials lined up in the next two weeks.
