Real, live tickets

GUERNSEY LIVE tickets are set to go on sale at Number 19 at midday on Saturday.

Number 19 will be the only outlet selling the festival tickets and organiser Warren Holt said he liked the fact it was an independent local shop.

‘I popped into the shop and liked the vibe of the place,’ said Mr Holt.

‘It is a good, locally established shop and coming from a DJ background myself, who used to collect records, I thought it fantastic. Plus Garry Warring [Number 19 owner] is a nice, genuine guy, who fully supports the event.’

Mr Holt also noted that the shop was well positioned for potential ticket sales.

‘It is in a great location in the centre of Town,’ he said

‘We did the same in Jersey for Jersey Live 2006 and had a manic response. Thousands queued outside Jersey Telecom’s store on Minden Street – the queue stretched from Cattle Street all the way to West Centre. We sold all 2,500 tickets in two hours, so we are hoping for a similar response this Saturday in Guernsey.’

Number 19 owner Mr Warring said the shop was happy to be involved as an event like this has been needed in the island for a while.

‘Warren wanted an independently owned store and we have a great indie vibe,’ Mr Warring said.

‘Some people have issues with the security of ordering tickets off the internet so we are enabling people to pop in and purchase one on Saturday.’

‘The line-up is superb and not many people realise how much effort goes into organising an event like this. I don’t think the price is too excessive for what is on offer and I am hoping we are busy for ticket sales,’ he said.
