IN THRASHING Grouville 6-0 to win the Jeremie Cup for the 24th time in their long history, North gave a glimpse as to what a season they might have had but for having been ravaged by injuries.
Jeremie Cup Final North v Grouville.
The Guernsey team’s football was almost as bright as the brilliant sunshine that bathed the Corbet Field on Saturday afternoon.
In their last match of the season, they literally tore apart their Jersey opponents who had reached the final by defeating St Martin’s in the semi.
Their six goals came courtesy of Simon Tostevin, Glyn Dyer, Jamie Ferbrache and a hat-trick from Craig Young.

The Mick Le Prevost coached team have had an up-and-down year as injuries plagued them earlier in the campaign and saw them as far as the league was concerned trailing in Bels’ wake.
But they did defeat their great rivals in the Fletchersports FA Cup final a couple of weeks ago.
‘We’ve had a fantastic end to the season,’ said Le Prevost. ‘The season has been mixed. December and January were a nightmare with players unavailable or injured. But since the turn of February we’ve not lost.
‘Full credit to the players, they’ve put the effort in.
‘Everybody played well today. It’s a shame the season has finished now.’
It had been rumoured that the match was the last for veteran North and Muratti defender Stuart Polson.
But the 35-year-old says he is not making a decision on his future quite yet.
It was a similar scenario this time last year when he took a couple of months to decide whether he was going to hang up his boots or not.
‘Who knows?’ said Polson when asked if he was retiring.
‘I don’t want to make a big thing out of it. I’m part of a successful team – we’re winning things.’
