Podger inspires on return

THE women led the way as Guernsey won the veteran’s badminton inter-insular 22-8.

The overall scoreline perhaps flattered the Sarnians in a hard-fought match, but victory was led by a 9-0 whitewash of the Caesarean female contingent.

Full island players Bridget Podger and Wendy Trebert, with partners Sarah Cumming and Jane Koller respectively, were far too strong for Jersey to cope with. Even third pair Lyna Guilbert and Jean McLauchlan combined well to win all three rubbers, including a three-set match against Jersey’s number one pair, Tracey Hudson and Jean Cross.
