TEVE OGIER is prepared to give Dave Rihoy as much time as possible to recover from injury ahead of the Muratti final in nine days time.
But Rihoy’s Bels teammate Neil Clegg has not been afforded such a luxury and has been jettisoned from the original 20-man squad along with the suspended Craig Young.
‘He [Rihoy] has stretched his ankle ligaments and Mike Thomas [island physio] says he’s 50:50. We will give him as long as we can. He’s important to the team,’ said Ogier, who takes his squad to the Midlands today where they play England Universities at Warwick.
‘He’s coming over with us this weekend so Mike can work on him.’
The news on Darren Martin is much better and Ogier expects the North captain to play some part of today’s game which will be backed up by a training session at Warwick tomorrow morning.
Ogier, meanwhile, expressed sympathy for Clegg’s situation.
‘I feel sorry for the guy because he found some good form after Christmas, but he’s since picked up a back injury. He was an obvious choice [to omit]’.
n Port City may be staying within the GFA ranks after all.
After announcing they were set to quit the GFA leagues and join the business ranks, a players’ meeting has led to a rethink and they will now sit and await developments.
A source said that the players were evenly split on which league to play in next season and as a result will see what transpires from negotiations between the GFA and the social league representatives.
