Donna saves day

DUTCH tourists who were rescued by an Island Coachways driver said it had given them a great first impression of Guernsey.

The family party of eight arrived on Saturday having completed a 12-hour drive and a two-hour ferry journey to find that the last bus to their hotel had left.

But then driver Donna Marshall arrived on the scene. ‘We must have looked disappointed or tired because she stopped and said, “Come on my bus. I have finished today but I will take you to your hotel”,’ said Jan Bilker.

Mrs Marshall, who has worked on the buses for 15 years and now works part-time because she also drives for Education, drove the eight passengers to Le Chene Hotel. ‘I thought I couldn’t just leave them there, so I just said, hop in,’ she said.

Donna is a woman the island should be proud of.

I wonder how Island Coachways would stand if she had been involved in an accident ? if the bus had been damaged or the people made a heavy insurance claim.
she had finished work but was traveling across the Island with passengers…

I live in Canada, but am proud to be a Donkey. Acts like this remind me of that.

I agree with comment 1. No 2. pull your head in. Obviously she o.k’d it with the bosses … You don’t just “steal a bus”.
