Pavement drivers risk prosecution, say police

MOUNTING the pavement at speed in your vehicle is unacceptable, according to the police.

Sergeant John Tostevin said he realises that on Guernsey’s narrow roads a car might sometimes need to mount the pavement in order to allow another to pass, but that driving along it at speed is not on.

‘If it has to happen, it should be done slowly and with great care, otherwise you may be prosecuted for dangerous driving,’ he said. ‘Slow down, mount the pavement, stop, let the car pass then come off it again.’
