MORE than 40 stalls will fill Market Square tomorrow. Entertainment as well as jewellery and art displays will be there for the start of a series of events.

‘We have held a few smaller events during the winter and have had fantastic feedback from people wanting to get involved,’ said Sonia Taylor, of Town Markets organiser Terrace Promotions.

‘Tomorrow we are moving outdoors and have offered Les Bourgs Hospice space to sell goods for its funds. Combined with our specially bought traditional stalls, there will be more than 40 stands.’

Entertainment will be provided by the visiting Royal Signals Band at 1pm and saxophonist Colin Falla. A selection of art demonstrations have been planned. The Guille-Alles Library will be holding a special story-telling session for youngsters.

Andy Robinson, of Simply Does It, and Michel Bigeard, from Delice dAnjou, will hold cookery demonstrations throughout the day.

Mr Bigeard will be preparing crepes as well as his popular patisserie range.

Simply Does It will be barbecuing local meat as well as providing tips on entertaining using Guernsey produce.

Every stall has been taken by a local trader, said Mrs Taylor.

‘We think it is important for Town Markets events to support the local community and benefit the island’s economy, which is why we are focusing so strongly on the Guernsey angle. People will even be able to take home their shopping in local Donkey bags.’

Mrs Taylor said there were plans to stage different types of things such as corporate events, motor industry promotions and food and leisure projects.
