The Police football side’s 30-year tenure in the Railway is likely to end.
THE Railway League – set to be renamed in the proposed new GFA structure – could be up to three clubs lighter next season.
Unconfirmed reports from Alderney suggest that the Bavaria Nomads are on the verge of withdrawing from the GFA competition, while Port City and Police are still considering their options.
Police coach Phil Breban admitted that the side’s 30-year tenure in the Railway is likely to end.
‘I can’t say definitely, but I would say it is likely.’
Breban said that the decision would be made purely on the grounds of player numbers. Many of their squad play in the social leagues and he believes they will be lost to Police for that reason.
‘One man, one team will be our demise,’ he added.
‘It will be very difficult for us to continue.’
Port City, meanwhile, could be heading for the social league structure which is set to break away from the GFA, which wishes to impose a one player, one club rule.
City personnel are thought to be split down the middle on the issue.
Bavaria Nomads representatives were unavailable for comment.
