EBEN MARSH was the star of the show at the Island Secondary Schools’ Sports Day yesterday, on a day where many records were either equalled or beaten.
Marsh broke three of these himself, but still could not lead the St Sampson’s Year 7 team to victory. The trophies were widely spread, as no one school was able to dominate the day.
The Grammar School will be one of the happiest, after winning the combined trophy in Year 10, who were the oldest competitors, as well as a couple of the other age groups.
Lee Merrien, the island’s athletics development officer, believed that the day was a great success. ‘As many of the performances today show, athletics in Guernsey is looking extremely healthy,’ he said.
