Could you have a twin? Not a biological one, but someone born in another country at the same time as you?

A Belgian production company needs readers’ help to team up people from Guernsey with ‘twins’ in that country.

It is filming a series of documentaries, with a working title of Birthday Twins Project, for Belgian National Television (www.VRT.be).

The question behind it is, ‘What would my life have been like if I had not been born in Belgium?’.

Twenty Belgians have been selected for the project and producers are now looking for people of the same gender around the world who were born on the same day.

These twins will meet and discover what, if anything, they have in common from a physical resemblance, surroundings, habits and culture.

‘We would like to immerse the Belgian person in the daily life of his or her foreign twin and film that experience during a couple of days,’ said Annelore de Donder, editor of the project.

Each Belgian will have three suitable twins and filming begins this month when the first will travel to Estonia, Chile and Ghana to meet his.

‘We are very keen on finding twins in Guernsey. Given the island’s beautiful setting, we think it would be exceptionally interesting to be able to portray a Guernsey citizen born and raised there,’ she said.

She said a comparison between the two countries and their opinions on life could give the documentary an extra dimension.

Are you a chosen one? If you share one of these birthdays, contact the team on twins@docfish.be or twins@ woestijnvis.be.
