A Sound line-up for Chateau

0591656.jpgAS A build-up to this year’s event, the Vale Earth Fair Collective has secured the Chateau des Marais (aka Ivy Castle) as the venue for a one-day live music festival on Saturday 5 July. This is an alternative to Beach Life, which had taken place in recent years.

‘The chateau is one of the lesser known local historic sights and we are excited to be raising its profile,’ said collective member Rachael Cumberland Dodd.

‘It’s perfect for live music. It has a natural amphitheatre, fantastic acoustics and, best of all, it is easily accessible from Town.’

Chateau de Sound begins at 1pm and features live music from local, Jersey and UK acts, plus live-art exhibitions.

‘We wanted to make a real impact for this inaugural event at the venue, so our headliner is London-based dance act Zub Zub,’ said Rachael.

The act is the brainchild of ex-Ozric Tentacles bassist Zia Geelani and will be heading to Guernsey fresh from an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival. Fusing drum and bass, break-beats and dub, Zub Zub incorporates distinctive dance tunes and infectious rhythms.

It is signed to the record label run by live dance-music pioneers Eat Static, which has previously headlined the fair.

Sharing the stage with Zub Zub are Jersey-based groovers Digderiblues and industrial rockers Schillaci, plus local favourites Schema.

With more live acts to be announced, an eclectic mix of DJs and live visuals, the Chateau de Sound promises to be another unique Vale Earth Fair fund-raiser.

Special parking, accessible from Les Banques, has been arranged for this event, although visitors are recommended to use the bus services available.
