MARKET SQUARE saw an array of colours and costumes in yesterday’s children’s fancy dress competition. About 20 youngsters took part in the Creasey’s Toy Shop-sponsored event.
The winner was eight-year-old Declan Simon, who was dressed as a chef and fully equipped with a pizza in a pan. ‘I love it how they flip their pans,’ he said. Once the contest had been narrowed down to just four children, Declan had come up against competition from a scarecrow, a clown and a pirate. All those won toy shop vouchers and all who entered were given a ceramic mug.
Toy shop manager Julie Murphy said it was the least it could do given all the support the outlet gets from the younger generation. ‘We do like to do something for all the children because without them, we wouldn’t survive.’
The event was part of this year’s Fete de Musique a la Ville and Creasey’s has organised various other activities for children, including a dress the teddy event, treasure hunt and a recorder band.
