Belton’s boys beat Denmark on way to final

0414644.jpgWHILE their senior counterparts did battle against the Kenyans, Guernsey’s under-13s were playing Sussex in the final of the quadrangular ArabianCricket.com festival at the Sussex-owned Blackstone Academy ground.

Sadly, they could not clear the final hurdle and lost by four wickets to the host county. The greens were bowled out for 158 in the 44th over.

Oliver Nightingale was the top scorer with 26. In reply Sussex reached the target for the loss of six wickets. Josh Kirk was the island side’s best bowler with two for 18 from nine overs.

To reach the final, Tim Belton’s youngsters beat both Denmark and Jersey, which Guernsey development manager Jason Shambrook (pictured) said was a marvellous effort.
